Thirst with Sheryl: season 2- Holistic Change

The proud heart says we are good, that we should get what we want, and if we don’t, we’re justified in our ingratitude. If we’re uncomfortable or inconvenienced in any way, we murmur & grumble.  Phil 2:14 CEV says Do everything without grumbling or arguing. 
What is the commonality with all these behaviors? Control, self-reliance, self-centeredness, selfishness & of course, Pride! 

Today I want to discuss a spirit that plagues a great number of Christians and at times they are oblivious to it.  I am talking about the spirit of Offense.
People can offend us, but we do not have the right to carry an offense. As blood bought believers, we have the position to release the offense; 1Cor 13:5 says that love is not easily provoked or offended.

We must be gatekeepers; A gatekeeper is a person who controls access to something. We must be gatekeepers of our soul & body. 

Prayer is so very crucial to the believer’s life. Prayer = Power
Beware: a serious prayer life will cause the enemy to devise a serious plan for your defeat.
Consider John 10:10a NLT, “The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy.”
However, the second part of this verse is more promising; it says “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
 
 

Prayer & Praise are designed to go together like peanut butter & jelly!
Prayer sends the angels (Ps 103:20 says angels are activated by God’s Word & we should be praying God’s Word & praise sends God) Ps 22:3 says that God inhabits the praises of His people

Waiting is difficult, especially when you feel you need it or want it at a specific time.
 
So, what can we do while we wait?  Listen and find out.

Matthew 18:19-20 CEV 
 I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you. 20 Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you.

When you come into God’s presence begin with adoration for your Father, tell God how great He is, how awesome he is and how much you love him, etc.; you know what to say, let it come from your heart
Submit & yield to God’s will allowing divine intervention to take place;
make sure you do not have any unconfessed sin or resentment!
Ask God to continue to provide for you and increase a yearning to study His Word to feed your spirit.
Ask God to protect you from the evil one and/or give you wisdom or how to get away from the tempter;
Then praise Him because it does say in the bible in Ps 22:3 that God inhabits the praises of his people!

In last week’s podcast episode, the “Mismatch,” we discussed that when we pray the Word of God, we must think in line with what we are praying about; if not, unanswered prayer may be inevitable.  However, Before You Move Forward, I want to remind listeners of some hindrances that may block prayer.
 

Now I’m excitement because of the discussion today, “The Mismatch!”  This is something, you may or may not know, so listen up. 
Prov 23:7a says “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”, which means, whatever someone says is not necessarily what they think in their heart. Therefore, the results they receive, are what they’ve been thinking!
